Among these social groups, young people have been particularly important. Because they have a tangible presence in the city's public spaces and social life of the city are affected by their presence. This paper examines the uses of public spaces by young people and will pay special attention to the role of social control on use of public spaces. Paper focuses on the study of young people who attend in public places with their friends from opposite sex. We have inspired by theories of urban public spaces such as Oldenburg's third place as well as comprehensive research of Rob White on crime, policing and urban public spaces in Australia in this paper. The main question of the paper is that this particular group of young people choose which public spaces and why? In a qualitative approach, two techniques of observation and in - depth interviews have been chosen for collecting data. Original data collected in interviews with 20 girls and boys who attend in public places with their friends from opposite sex. Results show that parks and coffee shops are preferred urban public places of youth. Formal control would push these youth to out of the way and cozy public spaces. در بین اندیشمندان شهری، به نحوة مواجهة گروه‌های اجتماعی مختلف با فضاهای عمومی‌ ‌شهری توجه زیادی وجود داشته است که در بین این گروه‌های اجتماعی جوانان از اهمیت ویژه‌ای برخوردارند، چرا که آنان حضور ملموسی در فضاهای عمومی ‌‌شهر دارند و حیات اجتماعی شهر نیز از حضور آنان تأثیر می‌پذیرد. این مقاله به بررسی استفاده‌های جوانان از فضاهای عمومی ‌‌می‌پردازد و نگاه ویژه‌ای به نقش کنترل اجتماعی در استفاده از فضاهای عمومی‌ ‌خواهد داشت. مقاله بر مطالعه جوانانی تمرکز دارد که با دوستان جنس مخالف خود در فضاهای عمومی‌‌ حضور می‌یابند. ما در این مقاله از نظریه‌های فضاهای عمومی‌ ‌شهری همچون نظریه مکان سوم اولدنبرگ، به‌علاوه تحقیقات مفصل راب وایت درباره جرم، پلیس و فضاهای عمومی‌ ‌شهری در استرالیا تأثیراتی گرفته‌ایم. سؤال اصلی مقاله آن است که این گروه خاص از جوانان کدام فضاهای عمومی‌ ‌را بر اساس چه دلایلی ترجیح می‌دهند؟ یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که پارک‌ها و کافی‌شاپ‌ها از جمله مکان‌های عمومی ‌‌ترجیحی جوانان هستند. کنترل رسمی، این جوانان را به مکان‌های عمومی‌‌ شهری دنج و پرت سوق می‌دهد. http://www.jicr.ir/article_303_11b9842e0a271ff252c1903e7132cd68.pdf
