For this purpose, the article is focused primarily on the concept of modernism as the most important effect of Western civilization at least in terms of representation in Iranian society; then, the whole confrontation of Iranian society with Western civilization is classified under three topic of West fascination, West selection and West aversion using interpretive method. The first two cases of these three types, contain subsets that are marked as distinct and defined, and for each type and their sub-sets, a set of intellectual representatives and citation samples are provided. The article, suggests resulted classification as a basis for understanding mental interaction of Iranian society with what is referred as the totality of Western civilization, in the field of intercultural studies and international politics. این مقاله تلاش می‌‎کند با تمرکز بر مدرنیته به‌عنوان اصلی‌ترین نمود و سیمای تمدن غرب، صورت‌های متکثر رویارویی و مواجهۀ ایرانیان با این تمدن را قالب‌بندی کند. به این منظور، ابتدا بر مفهوم مدرنیسم به‌عنوان مهم‌ترین جلوۀ تمدن غرب لااقل از نظر بازنمایی نزد جامعۀ ایرانی متمرکز شده است. سپس، با استفاده از روش تفسیری به کار گرفته شده در مقاله، مجموعه مواجهات جامعۀ ایران با تمدن غرب تحت سه مقولۀ غرب‌شیفتگی، غرب‌گزینی و غرب‌گریزی تیپ‌بندی شده است. از بین این سه تیپ، دو مورد نخست، حاوی زیرمجموعه‌هایی نیز هستند که به شکل بارز از یکدیگر متمایز و تعریف شده‌اند و برای هر تیپ و زیرمجموعه‌های آنها مجموعه نمایندگان فکری و نمونه‌های استنادی ارائه شده است. مقالۀ تیپ‌شناسی حاصل‌شده، به‌عنوان اساس فهم تعامل ذهنی جامعۀ ایران با آنچه از آن به‌عنوان کلیت تمدن غرب یاد می‌شود، در حوزۀ مطالعات میان‌فرهنگی و سیاست بین‌الملل توصیه می‌شود. http://www.jicr.ir/article_310_06eb61b839a0cefee4967c67ccb099dc.pdf
