Semiotics is the science of studying the sign systems and, in fact, an interpretive process for understanding the hidden truth behind the signs, mysteries, and signs and cultural symbols. In addition, semiotics tells us that structures can be meaningful. The sign system in the Islamic Republic of Iran is very important because of the creation of a new Shiite identity. The present study examines the process of transition from political symbols to social symbols in the stamps between 1979- 2001 as a cultural instrument of the Islamic Republic of Iran through a combination of content analysis and semiotics. The findings of this study indicate that the process of changing the emblems on stamps between 1979- 2001 indicates that the Islamic Republic of Iran's legitimacy has shifted from rulers to society and from political to social.

The Globalization accelerated the paradoxical processes of modernization by introducing the cultural homogenizations and heterogenizations: construction and deconstruction of local-communitarian identities. This is why we are facing on the one hand, the increasing of local identities and visions and on the other hand, the interference, sometimes in a conflicted way, of the latter forms with the national and global identities. In this context, the Iranian problematic is discussed by an urban anthropological theoretical approach. The main concern in this article is the everyday life styles as the most important means of the cultural identity formation and their self expressions. Social constructed space as Lefebvre put it, and Cultural Studies tradition of everyday life, have been the starting points of this paper aiming to analyze the cultural resistance phenomenon expressed in physical and bodily spaces as well as in social and intercultural relations in domains such as age, ethnics and gender. These identity schemes have been taken as minority situations when they express in a way or other, some sort of cultural or social resistance facing a dominant pattern and by this way the paper try to present some practical and applied solutions to decrease the social tensions.

In this article, after introducing representation theory, which is the most important theory in media and cultural studies, we try to analysis the Iranian film of "Yeh Habbeh Ghand" (One Cube of Sugar) with the "Practical Discourse Analysis Method" (PDAM). The result of this analysis shows that the director by testing the effect of the traditional and modem values on Iranian family, suggested that the best way is to maintain both the traditional and modern values in the family.

How an idea is born and how a marginalized discourse is outstood? This is the question that discourse analysts in various fields always try to respond. This responsiveness always needs filling the Archive gaps of discourse analysis, so researchers who have intention to analyze, with reference of Synchronicity or diachronic, can understand and analyze the evolution of discourses in various fields inter-subjectively. This research is about to respond this question and understand women identity in the second Pahlavi discourse in contemporary Iran. In addition, this research tries to help discourse researchers to understand the nature of discourse controversy in the second Pahlavi era and in what extend the current controversies in Iranian society about the semantic hegemony on women identity these controversies have different or similar semantics with second Pahlavi and its affiliates' discourse. Based on the above matter, the Shah’s most important speeches along with Zan-e Rooz magazine, as a close magazine to the second Pahlavi's official discourse is being analyzed using Laclau and Mof method. One of the results of this research is understanding the nodal point of "being up-to-date" for the second Pahlavi's discourse, which stands in close attraction with “being social". This discourse has a big emphasis on beauty and appeal and marginalizes hijab, especially Chador, as opposing such epistemes with rationality and calls them dogmatism. In addition second Pahlavi severely antagonizes Marxism and religious identities, but if we want to discuss its dominant aspect, the most discourse controversies represented by Zan-e Rooz magazine and the Shah’s speeches are related to antagonizing religion and religious identities and deconstructing their bonds with women identity.

Dissimilarities among the reality and what is represented in media caused to efforts to explain how-ness and why-ness of what is called media representation of the world. Therefore, media representation has been on board in Cultural and Media Studies. Cultural Study presupposes that what should one focus on in exploring media texts are the underneath ideological and social elements, and their influence on the audience’s views. Hollywood, among other media productions, enjoys a distinguished, unique status in representing the world. The present study reviews “a discourse-within-a-discourse”. In the other words, Iran’s representation would be explored as a part of representing Orient (or Islam) in the western media. Here, Hollywood –as a media-within-mass-media- represents American Media in general. Reviewing movies produced in Hollywood within which Iran is represented, she is represented as the “subaltern other”. Thus, it could be said that Hollywood generally works in the “neo-racist” theoretical framework. In this study, 3 theoretical traditions; namely the Cultural Studies, Post-Colonial Studies, and Film Theory have been applied. The central “representation” concept in the present study is a combined derivation of Michel Foucault and Stewart Hall’s theories. Then, Edward Said’s ideas in Post-Colonial Studies would be explored. And finally, Film Theory would help to apply the concept of representation besides the Post-Colonial Studies in Film Studies.

The movement towards the goals of "Vision plan 1404" needs the perception of the requirements to prepare plans for achieving the favorite objectives of development. With the advent of the information age, the rules of development policy-making strongly have changed in the world and also unique opportunities areprovided by variables of communications for countries that have been in early stages of development. Based on this, considering the communications in macro-level and in the political, social, economic and cultural development plans is important and necessary. This requires a review and pathology of previous plans and evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses for preparing of more comprehensive future plans. Themain question of this study is: what is the approach of development plans to communications section after Islamic revolution? Which aspects of communications are considered, and what aspects are ignored? This study analyzes five development plans after the revolution, by using of qualitative content analysis. Results show that in all five-year plans the focus was on hardware and quantitative dimensions of communication development and media, but qualitative and content aspects, such as the right to universal access to information, freedom to obtain and disseminate information within the constitution, freedom of speech and press, a move towards the information society and knowledge-based, also other dimensions of communications such as human, traditional and social communication has been less considered. In the fourth development plan that is "knowledge" – centered, new fields of communications has been studied comprehensively in comparison to other plans. According to these approaches and new scientific and experimental perspectives, this paper suggests further engagement in communications necessity for development policy-making.

The global nature of social media has brought ethnic challenges from regional and national stages to the world arena. The current study analyzes these challenges under the framework of Globalization theories. There are two general approaches to globalization: the first believes in complete global homogeneity, while the other does not believe in such an optimistic viewpoint. The purpose here is to clarify which of these two approaches have been used by social media as a means of global communication in relation to Iranian ethnic identities. For that matter, the researchers have conducted in-depth interviews with 11 experts in social communications, anthropology, and sociology and data were analyzed using MAXQDA 10 software. The results demonstrated that the performance of social media has created a dual situation, that is, on the one side they have preserved the Iranian ethnic identity and on the other, they have led them to be influenced by global culture. In other words, social media have reinforced the cultural coexistence of ethnic groups nationally and globally. With regard to separatist ethnic groups, social media do not play a significant role, as this issue is influenced by other social and political factors. Ultimately, the Iranian ethnic motivation to resist global nationality and culture is limited, although social media give them such ability.

There has been a huge concern about the manner of confrontations of different social groups with urban public spaces within urban scholars. Among these social groups, young people have been particularly important. Because they have a tangible presence in the city's public spaces and social life of the city are affected by their presence. This paper examines the uses of public spaces by young people and will pay special attention to the role of social control on use of public spaces. Paper focuses on the study of young people who attend in public places with their friends from opposite sex. We have inspired by theories of urban public spaces such as Oldenburg's third place as well as comprehensive research of Rob White on crime, policing and urban public spaces in Australia in this paper. The main question of the paper is that this particular group of young people choose which public spaces and why? In a qualitative approach, two techniques of observation and in - depth interviews have been chosen for collecting data. Original data collected in interviews with 20 girls and boys who attend in public places with their friends from opposite sex. Results show that parks and coffee shops are preferred urban public places of youth. Formal control would push these youth to out of the way and cozy public spaces.

Regardless to pathologic point of view, this paper attempts to investigate methods, in order to develop cultural educations through computer games by insisting on “Gamification”. This method therefore uses gaming style in environments irrelevant to computer games, which is one of the most recent methods used by giant companies. Among “Learning Theory”, “Observatory learning theory of Bandura” and from “Game Theory”, “Garnie's Theory and Clare's Motivational Model” selected as the principal theories. Hence, a survey is provided in five main sections that are, personal specifications, the importance of computer-games’ elements in teaching and learning, the amount of intercommunication between games’ elements and importance of interventional elements presented to this area’s experts to respond, such as producers, technical experts and pundits. New findings report that in cultural educations the most important parameters between games’ elements are “Game-play and directing the procedure of the game”, and in analyzing the intercommunication between games’ and learning elements, the hugest amount of correlation belongs to the element of “the possibility of playing in a group” and “ competition motivation”. It also suggests that for producing computer games including cultural materials, concerning about which element will lead to more effects on users. Suggesting applicable ideas to cultural directors of a country, suggesting a Persian expression for this purpose and presenting the amount of intercommunication between games’ elements and learning-teaching elements is the outcome of an innovation from this research.

Apathy is a passive activity in which individuals avoid active engagement and altruism while lacking interest in or concern about social problems. This paper aims to analyze social apathy in Ilam province and find its causes and consequences. The study was conducted by a qualitative method according to the grounded theory approach and using purposive sampling strategies (theoretical sampling). The required data were collected through interviews with 28 participants. Data were analyzed using the Strauss and Corbin coding paradigm in three stages of open, axial, and selective coding. As the results showed, ignorance of citizens’ role, political structure, rising expectations, selfish individualism, the decline in collective loyalty, social trade-offs, socioeconomic inequalities, and the accumulation of poverty and misery were the causal factors. Besides, the contextual factors included social loafing, non-assertiveness, economization of culture, legal gap, failure of the training system, the chaos of tradition, nepotism, low-performance civil organizations, and isolationism. Finally, government inefficiency, collective hysteria, and media malfunction were intervening factors. As the findings of the study show, ‘social disorganization’ was the main core of the research, which results from causal, contextual, and intervening factors.

Applying a qualitative approach, the present study attempts to discuss the identity sources of Hawrami people. To these end, a half-structured interview was conducted with 33 Hawrami key commentaries and experts selected with maximum variation; Data were gathered. In order to analyze the data, we used Nvivo and MAXQDA software based on conventional qualitative content analysis proposed by Lundman and Greneheim. The findings of the study demonstrated that the identity sources of Hawraman consists of four themes: “Hawrami-Kurdish ethnical identity”, “Iranian national identity”, “religious identity”, and “modern identity”. The category of Hawrami-Kurdish identity includes Hawrami language and literature, Hawrami symbols, sense of attachment and feeling proud of being a Hawrami, preserving and defending Hawrami sources and interests, music and songs and the emphasis on social integrity of different regions as Kurd people. The Iranian national identity includes the everyday presence of Persian language, music and songs, rituals and Iranian values, and national loyalty. Religious identity embraces the beliefs, rituals, Sufism, Ghaderi and Naghshbandi mysticisms, the state of religion, tolerance and revitalization-fundamentalism. In the category of modern identity, we shall see challenging the ancestor’s beliefs, intellect, criticism and awareness, humanism and tendency towards modernism, cosmopolitanism and consumption. This article studies the experience of fear of confronting the political state at the Iranian university. From the early days of establishing the university in Iran, Iranian university has been engaging in the politics and triggering political movement. In other words, student political movement, in Iranian contemporary political history, is a key term. Hence, the previous researches, in this field, just consider the historical approach, and then there is a lack of deep and qualitative examination which analyzes the current features of the political state at the university. Thus, in this article, analyzing the political state connects to the recent Iranian political approaches and its changes. Our study is after the green movement of 2008 and security encounters with students. Therefore, for students, based on those days and experiences, involving in political state is with fear and frustration. For examining this, we studied the University of Poly Techniques, Faculty of Social science at Allameh Tabataba'i University and Faculty of Medical Science at Tehran University. We conducted deep interview with 50 of political and non-political students. The object of the article is to answer how the fear of the political state at the university, for students, does make sense? And, how political student activists have encountered the fear? Consequently, students’ families are the basic factor to produce fear of the political situations, for the historical facts proves the political actions at the university threaten students’ future opportunity to get a job and even continue studies. Besides, in the everyday life at university, students alert each other to the adventures of the political engagements. But, when we talk about political state, mostly, it is about radical and reformist approaches and not those conservative practices which are supported by hardliners. Also, those political students who passed the gate of fear to the political sphere and doing political actions are like a catalyzer to persuade and stimulate other students to pass from the gate of fear.

The present research, using a qualitative approach, tries to examine the shaping components of unfinished mourning during the covid-19 pandemic in the city of Sanandaj. To achieve this goal, the concepts of worry, guilt, meaningful-meaningless death confrontation, the mental suffering of victims’ families and discourse were used as a conceptual framework. In the field study, the postmodern grounded theory was used whereas the data were gathered through in-depth qualitative interviews. Samples were selected through the purposive sampling method with the maximum variety and finally 15 participants were interviewed and the collected data were coded and analyzed in the form of eleven central categories. The results show that unfinished mourning are formed under the influence of spatial, technological, therapeutic-health, psychological, organizational-medical, social, cultural, discursive, philosophical-ideological and bureaucratic regulation components; in a way that the medical discourse, by shaping the laws of organizations and institutions such as cemeteries, hospitals and public places, causes the non-performance of burial rituals, funerals, obituaries, compliance with health protocols, drug consumption, avoidance of relatives and neighbors and family tensions. In turn, it has led to the feeling of emptiness, meaninglessness of life, delaying relief and finally, the persistent grief of mourners. Therefore, the mourners’ experience during the pandemic is the experience of connection with the medical discourse and the social space, meaning that our social world can only be understood in the form of discourse.

In a minority society, culture is more tangible and locates the individual in the larger society. So far, in terms of Armenian lifestyle (in housing) and dealing with it closely, few studies have been conducted. The present study is based on the principle that one of the main pillars of housing quality is the connection of the house with the culture by which the people live. Each society and culture, according to its condition and requirements, makes special circumscriptions, criterions and norms in choosing a spouse. In every culture one may have several alternatives of his/her own opposite sex as a spouse, but spouse choosing is never accidental. In every culture, besides the circumscriptions which is due to the personal values and desires, there are some circumscriptions which are imposed by the society. Till some decades ago, the family organization was responsible for spouse choosing in Iran, but today each person's role has become more important; although cultural and social conditions have some effect on it. Therefore, nowadays spouse choosing is analyzed as an important social action and many theories have been provided for understanding the patterns of the spouse choosing. In this study and in a theoretical level, two important theories (similar spouses and different spouses) are presented as two corrival theories and then according to similarities of these theories, the indicators of the study are made. After that, by using the survey research method throughout the country and the statistical population of five thousand people, we experimentally assess the indicators of the study and these two theories of the spouse choosing. Results show the domination of the similar spouses' theory in Iran. They also show that approximately 90% of people in the external traits, 89% in the psycho-emotional traits, 93% in the personal traits, 68% in the social level characteristics and 88% in the religious beliefs, follow the patterns of the similar spouses' theory. The analytical results also conclusively show that different groups in Iran choose persons who have more similarity with them in the external, psycho-emotional and personal traits as well as the social level and religious characteristics. Although it should be noted that among men and women, the strangeness and weakness of these patterns are different.
