Abstract
This study employs the theoretical framework and "Layered Thinking in Think-Peace Research" methodology to analyze the dimensions of peace culture from the perspective of the pacifist intellectual movement in Iran during the Islamic Republic era. Focusing on the cultural approach as one of the subcurrents of this discourse, the research was conducted in three stages: 1) Pre-Philosophical Analysis: Establishing the level of description and analysis; 2) Thinker Identification: Recognizing 11 prominent thinkers, including Bazargan, Davari Ardakani, Soroush, Kadivar, Malekian, Mosleh, Farastkhah, Ali Khani, Amir-Mahallati, Maqsoudi, and Mansour Nejad, based on systematic qualitative indicators of their thought systems and their published works; 3) Ideology Analysis: Conducting qualitative content analysis of their works. The findings reveal the socio-political contexts shaping the non-peaceful environment, including “the Iran-Iraq War, ideological conflicts, and discursive dichotomies”. In the realm of cultural problematization, nine key challenges were identified; The influence of Western violent civilizations , Obstacles to intercivilizational dialogue, Cultures of violence within political society, Malpractices in ethnic studies, Anti-cultural modernization, Neglect of indigenous thought structures, Violent ideologies, The infiltration of Marxist leftist culture, Primitive violence. The proposed solutions by the thinkers were categorized into seven main areas: Transforming the political culture of elites, Integrating peace culture with sustainable development, Promoting intercultural dialogue, Applying the concept of non-violence, Educating for intercultural peace, Developing peace theology based on religious sources, Reviving the Iranian school of peace. The research emphasizes the necessity of networking cultural institutions and reforming educational programs as prerequisites for institutionalizing a peace culture.
