چکیده

در این مقاله سعی بر آنست تا با معرفی دو رویکرد اصلی در شرق‌شناسی -شرق‌شناسی کلاسیک و شرق‌شناسی نوین- نگرش غرب نسبت به شرق در سطح کلان و اسلام در سطح خرد در هر یک از این دو رویکرد بررسی و رویدادهای مؤثر در ایجاد شرق‌شناسی نوین برشمرده شود. حادثه یازدهم سپتامبر 2001، یکی از اتفاقات مهم و تأثیرگذار در قرن حاضر و شرق‌شناسی نوین بوده است. از آن جایی که رسانه‌ها مهم‌ترین وسیله برای بازنمایی تفکر شرق‌شناسانه و نژادپرستانه هستند، گونه معاصر نژادپرستی، تاکید بر تفاوت های فرهنگی است. بر همین اساس، در این پژوهش نگرش فرهنگی غرب نسبت به ایران در ساخت های زبانی روزنامه‌های گاردین و دیلی تلگراف از انگلیس و مجلات تایم و نیوزویک از آمریکا پس از این حادثه تحلیل و تفسیر می‌شود. چارچوب نظری پژوهش بر پایه مدل بازنمایی کنش/ کنشگران اجتماعی ون‌لیوون 1995 و 1996 بنا شده که یکی از چهار رویکرد اصلی در تحلیل گفتمان است.
